PREMIER RADIOLOGY started in 1938 with one radiologist. The group officially incorporated in 1969 with two radiologists including Dr. John Blakey, who recently retired from the group. We currently have 17 physicians practicing five specialties of radiology. The Premier Radiology physicians can be found through their specialty or in the list below.

In 2004, Radiology of North Mississippi changed its name to Premier Radiology in order to better reflect the quality and scope of services it offers to patients and physicians in North Mississippi and Northwest Alabama. The new name, Premier Radiology, emphasizes the group’s commitment to providing the most advanced radiology services in the region – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The physicians of Premier Radiology adhere to the Code set by the American College of Radiology which maintains that radiologists act as consultants to the referring physicians and do not provide results or treatment plans to the patients. In this regard, the referring healthcare provider is the most appropriate person to plan and explain the patient’s treatment, as he/she will have a whole picture of the patient’s health including lab work, radiology test result, family/patient health history, and physical exam.
